MYBABBO BEGAN FROM A PLACE OF CARE, COMPASSION AND CREATIVITY IN A TIME OF GRIEF.
Our story began shortly after we got married in 2005 when three months
following, Mirco’s beloved Babbo, Gino Rossetti, passed away.
In the Italian culture, “Babbo” is a term of endearment for “Dad”.
One year later when our first child was born, the grieving process really
hit Mirco. The realization that our children would never get to meet his
Dad set in. It was at this time of grief, that I decided to create a scrapbook
filled with photos that facilitated stories and that would keep Babbo’s
memory alive. For Mirco, holding the scrapbook, looking at the photos
and reminiscing about the memories shared, helped him tremendously
on his own grief journey.
Almost three years later in 2008, my 19-year-old cousin, Nick Van Dyk
tragically passed away to childhood cancer. Once again, out of a time
of grief and pain, I decided to create a photo book of Nick’s life. The
family found comfort when looking through Nick’s photo book and
sharing his life story with others. This became an invaluable keepsake
and twenty-three more copies were requested.
It became clear that these photo books were more than a collection of special photos.
These photo books told a person’s life story in a way that honoured and celebrated them.
They also provided healing and comfort to grieving friends and family.
From that one book created of Nick’s life, I received hundreds of requests for memorial photo books in the following months.
There was an undeniable value that these books brought to those who had lost a loved one.
In April 2011, we launched MyBabbo and creating memorial keepsakes has become our passion.
As a mom with young children, creating a company that offered a
family-first lifestyle was paramount. It was important to me to create a
culture that provided an opportunity to work from home, offer flexible
schedules, and a manageable work-life balance.
Our team is one of our biggest assets. They treat each photo book,
video tribute, and stationery like it is their own. Timely, attentive customer
service and beautifully designed memorial keepsakes set MyBabbo apart.
That same care, compassion and creativity that birthed this business are
at the heart of MyBabbo today.
